Performance Recording Options

The options below are organized around musical performances and may not capture your performance recording needs exactly. In that case, please contact us and we’ll work it out with you.

Sonata

The Sonata option is perhaps a good entry level for first-time clients, smaller groups, and limited budgets.

Sample of Sonata Recording

  • One-person crew for video and audio.

  • Single HD professional camera positioned in a balcony when available.

  • Single x/y stereo microphone (Rode) positioned near the group with an on-camera professional microphone (Rode) for audience reaction. Audio is captured on a multi-channel digital recorder but is not monitored during performance; levels are conservatively set during warmups to prevent distortion. If sound reinforcement is being used, the mix off the sound board can also be used.

  • Editing to show the performance, add titles and credits, and bring in the professional audio track.

Cost: $395

Concerto

This level adds multiple cameras to provide additional views and to enable closeups.

  • One-person crew for video and audio.

  • 4K and 1080 professional cameras positioned to provide multiple views of the performance (e.g., choir, director, instumentalists, soloists) and a more dynamic final video.

  • Single stereo microphone (Rode) positioned positioned near the group and on-camera professional microphones (Rode). Audio is captured on a multi-channel digital recorder but is not monitored during performance; levels are conservatively set during warmups to prevent distortion. If sound reinforcement is being used, the mix off the sound board can also be used. If you are recording the performance separately, that can also be used.

  • Editing to blend together the multiple camera views, integrate the professional audio track, and highlight performances (e.g., individuals, instrumentalists, director, or audience views) into a stellar performance video.

Cost: $795

Symphony

This level includes a dedicated sound engineer and multiple microphones to provide a more accurate and balanced stereo recording using a principal stereo pair and spot microphones as required. The number of cameras will be determined by the need given the venue and complexity of the performance.

Sample of Symphony Recording

  • Multi-person crew (typically 2) for video and audio.

  • 4K and 1080 professional cameras positioned to provide multiple views of the performance (e.g., choir, director, instumentalists, soloists, audience) and a more interesting and dynamic final video.

  • Multiple professional microphones with spot mikes as required (e.g., instruments); audio captured on a multichannel digital audio recorder and constant monitoring by the sound engineer to accurately capture the performance and to ensure a recording suitable for post production editing and mixing.

  • Editing to blend together the multiple camera views, integrate the professional audio track, and highlight soloists, instrumentalists, director, and audience views into a stellar performance video with a professional audio track.

Cost: $1295
